As of September 9, 2010, LIPA has temporarily suspended processing rebate applications for its Solar Pioneer Program (residential customers). On October 1, 2010, a 500 kW block of rebates will be made available for the program at $1.75/watt. Once this block is used up, no future applications will be approved. More information is available on the LIPA website at http://lipower.org/residential/efficiency/renewables/solar-blocks.html The Solar Rebate Blocks will be tracked and updated on the LIPA web site on a weekly basis at http://www.lipower.org/residential/efficiency/renewables/solar-blockgragh.html Long Island, with its high electric rates and above-average amount of sunshine, is ideal for solar energy. And, with current incentives, right now is the very best time for you to go solar!

How to use this site:Step 1Take the "Solar Suitability Quiz." Step 2Calculate your savings. (You will need your Annual Electricity Usage. Call LIPA to get the most accurate estimate: 800-490-0025.) Step 3Enter your desired percentage of energy supplied by solar (default is 50%). Step 4Find-a-Contractor: select at least 3 solar contractors by clicking each box. Step 5Enter your contact information and click "Request FREE Solar Estimate." Step 6Watch your email for confirmation from solar@RenewableEnergy Step 7Receive a call or email from the contractors you selected. |
